The Ruth Rappaport Children’s Hospital

Turning Tears to Smiles

When it opened in June 2014, the Ruth Rappaport Children’s Hospital set a new standard as one of the most advanced, thoughtfully designed and friendly children’s hospitals in the country. A colorful, nine-story landmark on Rambam’s West Campus, the 130-bed hospital is the region’s only hospital dedicated exclusively to children’s medicine, with six inpatient departments, more than 20 professional units, and a science museum, movie theater, classrooms and play areas built right in.

A hospital where the science museum, the movie theater and the playrooms are as much a part of healing as the medicine.

Built Around the Child

Every detail of the hospital is designed for the comfort of its young patients and their families, and to promote the healing process. The building is spacious, bright, and welcoming, and each floor follows its own playful theme. The ground floor is home to the Cheryl Spencer Pediatric Emergency Department, which receives children around the clock and is accredited by Israel’s Ministry of Health as one of the country’s top emergency medicine departments.

More than 400 professionals care for children from birth through adolescence, and the hospital’s neonatology teams care for over 5,000 newborn infants every year. Its physicians hold faculty positions at the Technion’s Ruth and Bruce Rappaport Faculty of Medicine next door, training the next generation of pediatric specialists.

Together with the Parents

Parents are partners in their child’s healing. Their presence provides the reassurance, comfort and familiarity only a parent can give, helping children cope with fear and adapt to an unfamiliar environment. The hospital is built to keep families together, because children heal better when the people they love are beside them.

Adopt-a-Clown · Healing Through Laughter

For the emotional wellbeing of young patients facing frightening and painful situations, professional Medical Clowns, specially trained in nursing, medicine and child psychology, can make a world of difference.  If laughter is the best medicine, then medical clowns are just what the doctor ordered!

Bring a smile to the face of a sick child with your gift….

We invite you to help put big smiles on our little patients.  Each medical clown at Rambam Health Care Campus must be funded by the generosity of others who understand how important laughter is for healing. Rambam needs $15,000 per year for each medical clown.

Your gift will bring a smile to the faces of these children and the staff who help them. Relieving stress, promoting healing – what better gift is there to give?

Giving Levels:

$1,250 per month for each medical clown
$15,000 per year for each medical clown
