About AFORAM

Who We Are

American Friends of Rambam Medical Center (AFORAM) is the 501(c)(3) nonprofit advancing Rambam Health Care Campus, the largest hospital in northern Israel and the region’s only Level 1 trauma center. From our office in New York, we connect friends, families, and foundations across the United States with the doctors, researchers, and patients of Rambam.

Our Mission

We build awareness of Rambam’s lifesaving work and mobilize philanthropic support for its hospitals, institutes, and emergency preparedness. With the generosity of our donors, we help Rambam acquire advanced medical technology, develop world-class facilities, and pursue research that changes medicine far beyond Israel’s borders.

Founded in 1938, Rambam serves the 2.8 million people of northern Israel, caring for everyone who comes through its doors, regardless of race, religion, or nationality. Its patients include the residents of Israel’s most diverse region, IDF soldiers serving on the northern border, and members of international forces in the region. Working hand-in-hand with the Technion and the University of Haifa, Rambam turns scientific discovery into advanced medical treatments.

Rambam is also home to the Sammy Ofer Fortified Underground Emergency Hospital, the world’s largest of its kind, with 2,000 protected beds that allow lifesaving care to continue even under fire.

Our Partnership

AFORAM works closely with Rambam’s leadership to direct support where it matters most: from the Fortified ICU and the future Neurosciences Institute to pediatric care, cancer treatment, and research. We keep our community engaged through events across the United States, missions to Israel, and regular news from the Campus.
