Saving Lives & Healing Hearts in Las Vegas
On December 8, 2024, American Friends of Rambam planned its second lecture in the series Saving Lives & Healing Hearts in Las Vegas. Donors Dr. Lisa Rosenberg and Dr. Neil Braunstein opened their home to 25 guests for this informational program and afternoon reception.
Sari Arshadnia, director of the Western Region, spoke about Rambam Medical Center’s vital role in being the only Level 1 Trauma Center in Northern Israel during times of war and peace. Emphasis was placed on Rambam’s Fortified Underground Emergency Hospital, which was activated for the first time in September due to war, when missiles targeted Haifa causing casualties. More than 1,400 patients were transferred underground for protection, including geriatric patients and neonates from unfortified area hospitals.
Dr. Yaron Levy, a Las Vegas-based pediatric emergency department physician, spoke about his time at Rambam while attending the Technion Medical School, adjacent to the Rambam campus. Having not been at Rambam for more than a decade, Yaron was impressed by the hospital’s impressive achievements and innovations in patient care during this past year of war.
The program’s special guest speaker was Dr. Ben Kermani of Kermani Concierge Medicine. Dr. Kermani presented the topic, “Longevity in the 21st Century.” His talk was followed by a lively discussion, with many questions from the audience about the role of nutrition and supplements in extending quality of life.
The next afternoon lecture is scheduled for Sunday, January 26. Please contact Sari Arshadnia for more information at (424) 240-8083, or at Sari@aforam.org.
