The Eyal Ofer Heart Hospital

Keeping Hearts Beating

Rambam’s distinction as a world-leader in cardiovascular medicine rests upon decades of innovations developed by its gifted researchers, including minimally-invasive treatment approaches, sophisticated 3D imaging systems to visualize the heart during surgery, and pioneering work with cardiac stem cells.

The new Eyal Ofer Heart Hospital, now under advanced construction, will support the most modern facilities available under one roof for treatment, surgery, imaging, intensive care, research and preventive care.  And as the focal point for Rambam’s extraordinary expertise and innovations in the field, it will become a launching stage for the development of new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.

With only four of the nine floors completed, naming opportunities are available for entire floors, departments, units, and medical equipment.

If advancing cardiovascular medicine and research is a cause that is close to your heart, there are many ways you can make an impact.

Ending Sudden Cardiac Death (SCD) in Children and Young Adults

Professor Lior Gepstein, Director of Cardiology at Rambam and a Technion researcher, made medical history when he differentiated embryonic stem cells into functioning heart cells in vitro. Now Dr. Oren Caspi, an intern in Rambam’s Department of Cardiology, is using his mentor’s system to transform induced pluripotent stem cells into heart cells that encapsulate the factors causing Sudden Cardiac Death Syndrome–a leading cause of death in young people. Dr. Caspi’s research could potentially lead to new diagnostic and treatment approaches for this devastating condition.

You can help us end Sudden Cardiac Death by supporting or participating in our International Swim from the Heart swim-a-thon in Haifa, Israel.
