Azrieli Family is Honored by Rambam’s Leadership at Groundbreaking Ceremony for State-of-the-Art Pediatric Rehabilitation Center
October 22, 2025 – The Azrieli Foundation was honored by Rambam at a moving groundbreaking ceremony for the new Azrieli Foundation Pediatric Rehabilitation Center. In recognition of their extraordinary philanthropy and many contributions to Israel and to Rambam. Danna, Naomi and Sharon Azrieli also received the prestigious Rambam Award.
Rambam Health Care Campus welcomed Danna, Naomi and Sharon Azrieli and members of the Board of Directors of Azrieli Foundation Canada (AFC) and Azrieli Foundation Israel (AFI), for a moving Groundbreaking Ceremony for the new Azrieli Foundation Pediatric Rehabilitation Center (the Center). Due to a generous $7.2 million donation from the Azrieli Foundation to Canadian Friends of Rambam Medical Center, Rambam is building the new Center to provide critically needed in-patient and out-patient services, close to home, for thousands of children. The Center, which is already under construction and is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2026, will be located on the top floor of Rambam’s Ruth Rappaport Children’s Hospital. With Rambam’s expertise in every area of pediatric medicine and its multidisciplinary approach, the new Center is ideally positioned to meet the needs of the region’s children, eliminating gaps in care, accelerating recovery, and giving every child the best possible chance for the future they deserve.
Leading Rambam physicians and senior management were honored to hear remarks presented by Naomi Azrieli. The Azrielis and their guests were pleased to meet with a little girl who is already benefiting from pediatric rehabilitation services.
“Each year, hundreds of Israeli children and adolescents face the long road to recovery after injury, illness or trauma, and until now there has been a critical gap in pediatric rehabilitation services in Israel’s North,” says Dr. Naomi Azrieli, Chair and CEO, Azrieli Foundation. “With our lead donation to the Canadian Friends of Rambam Medical Center to inaugurate the Azrieli Foundation Pediatric Rehabilitation Center, we are proud to help these children and their families access the care they need to improve their overall quality of life.”
“In the wake of the challenges of the past two years, the Azrieli Foundation Pediatric Rehabilitation Center stands as a beacon of resilience and renewal. It offers children and youth the opportunity to heal and thrive, while helping communities restore a sense of stability and confidence. We are proud to support this initiative—one that is essential to our healthcare system and represents a meaningful investment in Israel’s future generation,” says Danna Azrieli, Chairwoman of the Azrieli Group and co-Chair of the Azrieli Foundation Israel.
Rambam’s Director General, Professor Miki Halberthal, expressed gratitude to the Azrielis and stated: “The new Azrieli Foundation Pediatric Rehabilitation Center marks the fulfillment of a dream. Children recovering from severe illness or injury need specialized rehabilitation to reach their full physical, psychological, and social potential. As there is currently no dedicated pediatric rehabilitation center in the Haifa area, children must travel long distances and often face significant delays in treatment. Many children forego treatment entirely, with devastating, lifelong consequences. We are profoundly grateful to the Azrieli Family and the Foundation for this transformational gift, which will have a powerful impact on the lives of many children.”
Prof. Halberthal was pleased to present the prestigious Rambam Award to Danna, Naomi and Sharon Azrieli and to the Foundations. The Rambam Award is presented to outstanding individuals in tribute to their achievements in the fields of science, medicine, and technology, or in recognition of their crowning contributions to humanity. Previous recipients include President Shimon Peres, Ruth Rappaport, Sammy Ofer, Sandor Frankel from the Helmsley Charitable Trust, Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks, and Ariella Wertheimer. Rambam was honored to include the Azrielis among the distinguished awardees for their remarkable contributions to Science, Medicine, Israel-Diaspora relations, the Arts and to Rambam.
