Rambam Joins Earthquake Relief in Turkey
February 8, 2023 – The 7.5 magnitude earthquake that rocked Turkey has left thousands dead, injured, and homeless. It is a desperate time and a humanitarian crisis. Medical experts from Rambam Health Care Campus (Rambam) in Haifa, Israel, are on their way to Turkey to provide much-needed assistance and relief.
In the early hours of Monday morning, Turkey and neighboring countries were hit by a devastating earthquake. Many countries are participating in rescue and relief missions, and Israel is no exception.
Four Rambam specialist physicians and a nurse are part of a multi-disciplinary medical delegation from Israel’s best hospitals. The Rambam medical team is Dr. Amit Lehavi, attending physician, Anesthesiology and Recovery Room; Dr. Danny Epstein, attending physician, General I.C.U.; Dr. Nir Haya, director, Gynecology Unit; Dr. Maayan Ben-Sasson, attending physician, Institute for Pain Medicine and nurse Yael Moses, and they will soon be landing at an airport close to the scene of the disaster. Medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, and first aid are also in transit.
“We will be in Turkey for at least two weeks – we want to help as many victims as possible,” Lehavi concludes.
